Andy Sandler

Andy Sandler is an entrepreneur, business leader and advisor, lawyer, and philanthropist. He leads Temerity Capital Partners, the Sandler family office and private investment company, which invests in and advises early-stage companies developing new technologies in financial services and achieving positive social impact. Andy owns and operates Asurity Technologies which focuses on mortgage compliance technology and RiskExec, a leading fair lending analytics SaaS software provider. He is a senior partner at the Mitchell Sandler law firm and recently founded Asurity Advisors, a financial services industry consulting firm. Andy owns three professional baseball teams: the Greensboro Grasshoppers, Kannapolis Cannon Ballers and Lexington Legends. He is actively engaged in mixed use and hotel development projects in each of the communities where he owns a team.

Andy was named a Public Justice Trial Lawyer of the Year finalist for representing the Navajo Nation in its breach of trust litigation with the United States. Andy and his colleagues achieved a $554 million settlement for the Navajo Nation. HousingWire Vanguard recognized Andy as “one of the biggest names in the housing industry” and Legal Times has named him as a Legal Visionary for his law firm leadership.

Andy is the founder of The Sandler Family Foundation which focuses its philanthropy on health and welfare, social entrepreneurship, financial inclusion, and inclusive democracy. He holds J.D. and M.B.A. degrees from the University of Pennsylvania Law School and Wharton School of Business, an M.A. from the University of Warwick (Rotary Foundation Fellow), and a B.A. from Union College.

Andy and his wife Andrea, managing partner of the Mitchell Sandler law firm, find their greatest joy spending time together with their family and friends at their Florida beach home and Virginia farm and traveling.

Grovetta Gardineer

Grovetta N. Gardineer is the Senior Deputy Comptroller for Bank Supervision Policy at the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC).

In this role, Ms. Gardineer directs the formulation of policies and procedures for the supervision and examination of national banks and federal savings associations, chairs the agency’s Committee on Bank Supervision, and serves on the OCC’s Executive Committee. She oversees the units for policy related to credit risk, market risk, operational risk, and compliance risk, as well as the units responsible for international banking and capital policy, accounting policy, and community affairs. She assumed this role in March 2019.

Previously, Ms. Gardineer served as the Senior Deputy Comptroller for Compliance and Community Affairs since March 2016. In that role, she oversaw agency compliance exams on national banks and federal savings associations and supervised the agency’s Community Affairs and Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) programs. She also had responsibilities for policy and examination procedures relating to consumer issues and anti-money laundering and for representing the agency on interagency groups and activities related to compliance, CRA, fair lending, and the Bank Secrecy Act.

Ms. Gardineer was the Chair of the NeighborWorks® America Board of Directors from June 20, 2016, to June 27, 2019, and is currently a board member.

Ms. Gardineer previously served as Deputy Comptroller for Compliance Risk at the OCC and oversaw development of policy and examination procedures relating to consumer issues and anti-money laundering. She served as a key advisor to the Committee on Bank Supervision and to the Comptroller on compliance and CRA matters. Ms. Gardineer joined the OCC in 2010.

Before joining the agency, she worked for the Office of Thrift Supervision, where she served as the Managing Director for Corporate and International Activities. Before that, she was the Managing Director for Supervision Policy, where she was responsible for several programs, including capital policy, credit risk, trust operations, accounting policy, and information technology risk assessment. Before joining the Office of Thrift Supervision, Ms. Gardineer spent several years as an attorney with the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation handling enforcement actions and preparing policies and regulations affecting the financial services industry.

Ms. Gardineer earned her juris doctor degree, cum laude, from North Carolina Central University and her bachelor’s degree from Wake Forest University.

Mark Pearce

Mark is the Director of the FDIC’s Division of Depositor and Consumer Protection (DCP) and leads the FDIC’s efforts to protect depositors and consumers nationwide. The Division has responsibility for the FDIC’s compliance and CRA examination and supervision for state non-member institutions, research and policy development related to consumers’ use of financial products and services, depositor and consumer assistance, community affairs, financial education and economic inclusion efforts.

Prior to joining the FDIC, Mark was the Chief Deputy Commissioner of Banks for the State of North Carolina.  He has served as President of the American Association of Residential Mortgage Regulators.  Previously, Mark was President of the Center for Responsible Lending and has worked for Self-Help, one of the largest community development financial institutions in the nation.

Mark graduated from Harvard Law School (1996) and has a B.A. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Eric Belsky

Eric Belsky has served as Director of the Division of Consumer and Community Affairs at the Federal Reserve Board of Governors since 2014. He oversees the Federal Reserve’s work in consumer- and community reinvestment-focused supervision, research, outreach, and policy analysis, with the aim of promoting a fair and transparent consumer financial services marketplace and effective community development. The Division also conducts research on the financial and economic conditions of low and moderate-income individuals, households, and communities.

A specialist in housing finance, economics and policy, he brings more than 25 years of experience to the Division. Before joining the Federal Reserve Board, he served as managing director of the Joint Center for Housing Studies of Harvard University. He also held the positions of director of Housing Finance Research at Fannie Mae, senior economist at the National Association of Home Builders, and taught at both Harvard University and the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. In addition, in 2001 and 2002, Belsky served as research director for the bipartisan Millennial Housing Commission established by the Congress of the United States.

Mr. Belsky has co-edited five books and authored numerous articles and book chapters and has served on the editorial boards of the Journal of Housing Research and Housing Policy Debate. He holds a Ph.D., M.A., and B.A. from Clark University.

Patti Joyner

Patti Joyner is Managing Director of Asurity Academy, Asurity’s recently launched training and professional development arm. With over 40 years of banking experience, Patti is a Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM), who brings deep expertise in regulatory compliance, risk management, compliance program development, professional development training, and litigation support.

Patti is a frequent presenter for many state and regional compliance associations and the American Bankers Association, where she has served as a faculty member at its prestigious Stonier Graduate School of Banking as well as National, Intermediate, and Graduate Compliance Schools.  Additionally, Patti has been a featured speaker on a variety of compliance topics, appearing on webcasts and conference panels. Carl Pry

Carl Pry, a Senior Advisor at Asurity Advisors, is a seasoned executive with banking law, corporate finance, and regulatory compliance experience in Fortune 500 institutions, regional banks and industry consulting firms. Carl advises clients on commercial compliance, fair lending, corporate treasury and risk management.

Over the last 30-plus years, Carl has held senior leadership positions including Managing Director at Treliant LLC, Senior Vice President and Compliance Manager for the Compliance and Control Division at KeyBank, Manager of Finance and Performance Management Service Line at Accenture, and Vice President of Regulatory Services at Kirchman Corporation. With strong knowledge and experience as a banking attorney and officer, Carl is a frequent contributor to and currently serves as Co-Chair of the Editorial Advisory Board for the ABA Bank Compliance magazine. As a featured speaker for numerous banking, compliance, and state bar associations, he has led training sessions across the country. Carl has served as an instructor at FDIC examiner school and back-up instructor for NCUA examiner school. He has authored training programs covering consumer and commercial compliance, audit, quality control, tax, privacy and risk management.

Carl has authored scores of articles on regulatory and financial issues, developed testing and support materials for BAI’s Anti-Money Laundering Professional certification, and served as subject matter expert for web-based compliance and audit educational testing programs for banking training firms. Andrea Mitchell

Andrea is a nationally recognized adviser to banks, financial services companies, and third-party service providers on enforcement, regulatory, and compliance matters. She represents clients throughout the country on fair lending, fair servicing, and responsible banking issues, including matters that involve claims of disparate impact; disparate treatment; and unfair, deceptive, or abusive acts and practices (UDAAP). Her work in this area includes advising on redlining, pricing, underwriting, steering, product development, sales and marketing, social media, limited English proficiency, artificial intelligence and machine learning, overdraft and other deposit account practices, credit reporting, servicing, collections, and loss mitigation.

She frequently advises clients on board governance and bank regulatory issues, including supervisory appeals, merger and acquisition strategy, supervisory relations, and examination management. She also assists banks with applications to change primary bank regulators and with their transitions into Consumer Financial Protection Bureau jurisdiction upon crossing $10 billion in assets.

Andrea also has conducted internal investigations and served as lead counsel on dozens of government investigations and enforcement matters.

Dr. Anurag Agarwal

Dr. Anurag Agarwal is the president of Asurity’s compliance risk analysis and report platform RiskExec.

He is a recognized expert in fair lending, Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA), Community Reinvestment Act (CRA), and related areas. As the main architect, designer, and developer of the platform, Anurag continues to lead the development of the RiskExec line of compliance technologies.

During his career, Anurag has consulted with and advised large financial institutions in the areas of compliance, fair lending, statistical analysis, and regulatory risk management.

Lisa Rice

As President and CEO, Lisa Rice leads the National Fair Housing Alliance (NFHA)’s efforts to advance fair housing principles, preserve and broaden fair housing protections, and expand equal housing opportunities for millions of Americans. NFHA is the trade association for over 170 fair housing and justice-centered organizations and individuals throughout the U.S. and its territories, and is the nation’s only national civil rights agency solely dedicated to eliminating all forms of housing discrimination.

Ms. Rice is a published author contributing to several books and journals addressing a range of fair housing issues including — The Fight for Fair Housing: Causes, Consequences, and Future Implications of the 1968 Federal Fair Housing Act; Designed for the Future: 80 Practical Ideas for a Sustainable World; Discriminatory Effects of Credit Scoring on Communities of Color; and From Foreclosure to Fair Lending: Advocacy, Organizing, Occupancy, and the Pursuit of Equitable Credit.

She played a major role in crafting sections of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act, and in establishing the Office of Fair Lending within the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. She also helped lead the investigation and resolution of precedent-setting fair housing cases which have resulted in providing remedies for millions of people as well as the elimination of systemic discriminatory practices involving lending, insurance, rental and zoning matters. She has received numerous honors and awards including the National Housing Conference’s Housing Visionary Award and was named as one of Time’s 2024 Closers. Ms. Rice also serves on various Boards and Advisory Councils.

Luke Wimer

Luke Wimer is Chief Executive Officer of RiskExec. He manages the daily operations of the firm and is responsible for executing its mission, vision, and strategy.

Prior to RiskExec, Luke was Chief Operating Officer at Asurity. Luke has also served as EVP of Global Operations and CIO for MoneyGram, International; Principal at Thomas H. Lee Partners, the Boston-based private equity firm; Vice President of Technology at Capital One; and as Director, PwC Consulting. Luke holds an MBA from the Anderson School of Management at UCLA.

Courtenay Dunn

Courtenay R. Dunn is Senior Director of Government Affairs for Intercontinental Exchange, Inc. (NYSE: ICE), a leading global provider of data, technology, and market infrastructure, and ICE Mortgage Technology TM. In this role, Dunn oversees the companies’ government relations, regulatory and legal affairs initiatives. Dunn currently serves on the National Housing Conference National Advisory Council and the Mortgage Bankers Association Affordable Homeownership Advisory Council. Dunn was honored as a 2022 Housing Wire Woman of Influence for her work with ICE. Previously, Dunn served as Counsel for ICE, and oversaw litigation and corporate law and governance matters for MERS.

Dunn has been in the mortgage industry for over 18 years and presents frequently on matters involving mortgage, technology, and privacy. Prior to joining ICE, she worked as an attorney in private practice in Philadelphia handling all aspects of mortgage litigation.

Dunn has dedicated her professional and community volunteer efforts domestically and internationally to the rule of law, legal and social rights. She is an American Bar Foundation Fellow and an active member of several mortgage, technology, and finance-related trade associations. Dunn is a prior recipient of the American Bar Association Young Lawyers Division “On the Rise” award, which recognizes high achievement, innovation, vision, leadership, and legal and community service, and the Lawyer on the Fast Track award, a peer-nominated and industry voted award for professional, personal, and civic work to improve the legal landscape among others. Kristine Curl

Grace Brasington

Grace is a risk and compliance management expert and financial services industry leader with over 30 years of global corporate and consulting experience. At banks, FinTech companies, and consulting firms, her oversight responsibilities have included risk and compliance, fair and responsible banking, CRA, deposit operations, financial crime, consumer banking, payment systems, information technology, complaints management, mortgage, consumer and commercial lending, and business strategy. Areas of focus have included risk assessments, risk mitigation and management, artificial intelligence, predictive analytics, data management, compliance management systems, and organizational transformation.

In her current role, Grace leads the Asurity Advisory practice as Executive Managing Director. In this capacity, she provides input and strategic direction relative to the Risk Exec product and leads the go to market activities for advisory service offerings.

Grace’s corporate roles have included Chief Compliance Officer of SunTrust Banks and Chief Risk Officer of Lender Processing Services (now Black Knight Financial Services, a leading FinTech company). At IBM’s Watson Financial Services Division, she led the design, development, implementation, and acquisition strategies of a number of technologies focused on regulatory compliance, risk management, and financial crime. Her consulting positions have included Partner at Guidehouse (formerly Navigant Consulting), where she led client development and relations regarding FinTech, financial crimes, and fraud. At KPMG, she was Director of the Southeast Risk Advisory Practice, focused on enterprise banking clients.

Grace is a frequent speaker on emerging technology, recently including a keynote on RegTech compliance implications at an American Banker event, as well as addressing international conferences and meetings of regulators on subjects including artificial intelligence for risk management, cognitive technology in boardrooms, and building trust and confidence in big data.

Grace earned a BS in Finance and Management from Florida State University. She has been recognized by the industry on several occasions for her technology innovation and was awarded Industry Academy Membership by IBM in 2018.

Michael Carbone

Michael Carbone has served as Deputy Enterprise Chief Compliance Officer at Flagstar Bank since March 2024, where he has responsibility for Fair Banking, Second line oversight practices, and compliance governance and reporting; and previously served as Interim BSA Officer.

Prior to Flagstar, Mr. Carbone was the Chief Compliance Officer at City National Bank (RBC’s US consumer and commercial bank) and was responsible for transforming its Enterprise Compliance program into one that aligns with OCC large bank supervision expectations including the development of a Fair and Responsible Banking function; Consumer, Commercial, and Wealth Management Advisory functions; and compliance monitoring, testing, governance, reporting, training, and regulatory change routines.

Previous to his time at CNB, Mr. Carbone served as Director of Compliance at Citizens Bank, N.A. where he oversaw the Commercial Banking, Finance, and Corporate Functions; and as Head of Enterprise Risk Management and Head of Corporate Compliance at Santander Bank, N.A. where he developed and implemented the ERM program, managed Governance and Board Operations, and developed and implemented the Corporate Compliance function. Earlier in Mr. Carbone’s career, he worked at Royal Bank of Scotland/Citizens in a compliance oversight role covering Securities, Investments, and Commercial related businesses; and at Bank of America, within its Global Wealth and Investment Management division.

Daniella Casseres

Daniella serves on Mitchell Sandler’s management committee and leads the firm’s mortgage regulatory practice group.

She advises mortgage lenders, financial institutions, and consumer finance companies on regulatory compliance and enforcement matters, bringing the insight of a former banking regulator at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago to her work. As the head of Mitchell Sandler’s mortgage practice group, she regularly counsels clients on state and federal laws relating to fair lending, advertising, licensing, and privacy. She has particular experience helping mortgage lenders and others comply with the requirements of the Truth in Lending Act, the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act, the Fair Housing Act, the Fair Credit Reporting Act, the Bank Secrecy Act, and state regulatory requirements.

Shannon Thomason

Shannon Thomason is Senior Vice President, Deputy Chief Compliance Officer for Central Bank.  She recently moved into this position and oversees the fair banking and governance and strategy team within the compliance department as well as mortgage loan quality control.  She has also held positions as the Chief Compliance Officer, Compliance Manager and Compliance Officer for an affiliate bank during her thirteen years with the company.  Central Bank is $20 billion bank headquartered in Jefferson City, Missouri operating in Missouri, Kansas, Illinois, Oklahoma, Colorado, Florida, North Carolina, Iowa and Arkansas as well as an online mortgage presence.

Prior to her employment with Central Bank, Shannon spent 10 years with Great Southern Bank based Springfield, Missouri in various capacities in compliance and internal audit.  She holds certifications as a CRCM and CERP.  She is married to Lin, has two children, Raegan, 22 and Alex, 19 and a bernedoodle named Ozzie.

Outside of work, Shannon works with Abundant Blessings, a non-profit organization in Nixa that provides clothing and shoes to children in need and foster children in our community.

Timothy Stokes, CRCM

Tim Stokes is a Managing Director with Asurity Advisors. Tim brings with him 25 years of experience in consumer financial regulations, risk management and mitigation, and bank operations. Given his prior service in executive leadership roles at banks and financial technology companies, regulatory agencies, as well as professional service advisory firms, Tim possesses the experience that enables him to bring both tactical and strategic solutions to a wide array of client engagements.

Tim has assisted with the development and execution of remediation and settlement action plans for several large clients in response to regulatory or legal enforcement actions related to Unfair, Deceptive, or Abusive Acts or Practices (UDAAP), Section 5 of the Federal Trade Commission Act, consumer complaints, and the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act (SCRA). He also served as Chief Compliance Officer and Fair Lending Officer secondment roles for mid-size banks. Tim has assisted clients with the development and implementation of Compliance Management Systems and Operational Risk Management Programs. Additionally, he has overseen the review and testing of governance, risk, and compliance frameworks for Financial Technology companies (fintechs) to ensure their products and services, operations, and compliance practices were aligned with regulatory expectations and partner bank requirements.

Prior to consulting, Tim was the Chief Compliance Officer of a Texas based community bank and the Vice President of Operations and Compliance at a mid-size credit union. In both roles, Tim was responsible for the development and implementation of the institutions’ compliance programs, regulatory exam management and response, and day-to-day management of Compliance Department activities.

Tim also served as a Senior Regulatory Outreach Specialist with the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN). In his role with FinCEN, he was instrumental in the development and launch of the agency’s BSA e-filing system. He also served as the designated liaison between FinCEN and the prudential regulators’ anti-money laundering divisions.

Tim has spoken at the American Bankers Association Regulatory Compliance Conference and conducted webinars on regulatory risk assessment and risk management for the Consumer Bankers Association. Tim holds a B.S. in Organizational Psychology from the University of Houston and is a Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager.

Lynn Woosley

Lynn Woosley is a Managing Director with Asurity Advisory. She is a seasoned executive with extensive risk management experience in consumer protection, regulatory compliance, consumer and commercial credit risk, credit and compliance risk modeling, model governance, regulatory change management, acquisition due diligence, and operational risk in both financial services and regulatory environments.

Over the last three decades, Lynn has held leadership positions including Senior Vice President and Fair and Responsible Banking Officer; Group Vice President for Wholesale Transaction Modeling; and First Vice President for Portfolio Management within the Enterprise Risk Management division of a top 10 bank. Prior to joining the private sector, Lynn served as Senior Examiner and Economist at the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta. She also has 6 years’ experience in financial services consulting.

With strong knowledge and experience across multiple risk disciplines, Lynn has been a featured speaker for several banking, compliance, and CRA conferences across the country. Lynn has authored numerous articles and presentations on financial institution risk management and consumer protection issues. She has also developed training materials related to fair lending, fair housing, UDAAP, credit risk management, credit scoring, and consumer protection topics.

Lynn holds a BBA and an MBA from Middle Tennessee State University and an MS Finance from Georgia State University. She is a Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager and a Commissioned Examiner of the Federal Reserve System. Britt Faircloth is an industry expert with over 25 years of banking experience including roles in the retail branch system, operations, and compliance. As a former consultant, she served institutions of all sizes with her deep knowledge base in HMDA, CRA, Fair Lending, and UDAAP. Currently Britt is the Senior Director of the Office of Fair and Responsible Banking at Citizens Bank where her team manages second line functions related to HMDA, Fair Lending, UDAAP, Complaints, SCRA, and ADA.

Montell Watson

Ken Scott

Ken Scott is a Partner at Relman Colfax, having joined the firm in 2022. He is focused on counseling financial institutions on best practices for complying with fair lending and consumer protection laws, and on navigating financial technology issues.

Prior to joining the firm, Ken served two tours of duty as a Trial Attorney at the Department of Justice, Civil Rights Division, Housing and Civil Enforcement Section, where he investigated and litigated fair housing and fair lending cases. Ken has also worked at a number of large financial institutions, where he served in positions ranging from fair lending counsel to head of consumer fairness compliance. While in law school, Ken participated in the Criminal Justice Clinic where he represented indigent clients. Ken also served in the U.S. Air Force.

Ken sits on the Board of the National Fair Housing Alliance and has presented at numerous conferences on fair lending and consumer protection issues.

Edward Kramer

Ed Kramer is a Senior Advisor on the Asurity team. Ed brings decades of financial services experience and a wealth of expertise in regulatory and compliance matters, the mortgage and software industries, and business management and development.

Mr. Kramer serves as a Director of  ICE Mortgage Technology (IMT). IMT combines the innovation and expertise of Black Knight, Ellie Mae, Simplifile and MERS, as the only provider focused on automating the entire mortgage process – from consumer engagement through loan registration and every step in between. IMT offers the only digital network that applies robust data connections across the industry to virtually every loan in the market.

Ed is also the Independent Director of Mortgage Electronic Registration Systems, Inc. (MERS). He has served in that capacity since April 2011. MERS serves as the mortgagee in the land records for loans registered on the MERS® System, and is a nominee (or agent) for the owner of the promissory note.The MERS® System is a national electronic registry system that tracks the changes in servicing rights and beneficial ownership interests in mortgage loans that are registered on the System.

From April 2016 to March 2020 he was a member of the Senior Advisory Board for Treliant, LLC, a multi-disciplinary compliance, risk management and strategic advisory firm for the financial services industry and consumer-oriented businesses.

Mr. Kramer was Executive Vice President, Regulatory Affairs at Wolters Kluwer Financial Services from late 2006 to the end of 2015. Prior to this position, Mr. Kramer was Deputy Superintendent of Banks in charge of the Consumer Services Division of the New York State Banking Department, which is responsible for performing consumer compliance and fair lending examinations and administering the Community Reinvestment Act. The division also coordinates economic development and CRA outreach activities with banks and community organizations.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Kramer served as First Senior Vice President and Director of Residential Mortgage Lending at The Dime Savings Bank of New York, and was Executive Assistant to the Superintendent of Banks.

Mr. Kramer is a member of the Northeastern Regional Board of Directors of Operation Hope, Inc. and serves on the Advisory Board of Neighborhood Housing Services of New York City (NHS). He is a lecturer at Pace University Center for Governance, Reporting & Regulation.

Mr. Kramer received his MBA in Management, with distinction, from Pace University.

Sarah Brons

Sarah Brons is Senior Vice President of Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) Products and Services for RiskExec, Inc. Sarah brings in-depth community development and CRA compliance expertise developed through experience in bank examining, bank CRA program development, and industry engagement.

Sarah joined RiskExec from American Express where she served in the American Express National Bank Center for Community Development as Director leading the CRA Grant and Service Programs.
She previously held Community Development Officer and CRA Officer positions in two other large banks.

Prior to joining her roles in banks, Sarah served as a bank examiner with the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency where her responsibilities included conducting CRA exams for banks of all sizes.

Sarah earned her BSBA from the University of Nebraska at Omaha.

Jesse Taylor

Jesse Taylor rejoined the RiskExec team summer of 2022 after her previous tenure with the company from 2015 to 2019. She brings with her over a decade of experience in Compliance having served in Fair Lending leadership roles at both depository and non-depository institutions.

Jesse’s experience includes completion of ground-up build-outs of fair lending analytic programs at multiple institutions, including facilitation of full-scope model validation projects in partnership with Quantitative Analytics and Model Risk departments. She has executed and supervised completion of risk assessments and fair lending reviews for underwriting, pricing, steering, redlining, branch distribution, marketing and servicing as well as assisted in examination preparation and response to multiple regulatory entities.
